Hello All:

First an update on the prescribing of Hep C drugs.  NPARI has voiced concern to the Health Innovations committee that Donna Policastro sits on about the restrictive policy stating that NP's need physician supervision to prescribe these drugs.  The committee is well aware and Donna has been very vocal about changing the policy.

The Board of Nursing has a new executive director, Margaret Clifton.  Information from the last BON meeting included the fact that applications for re-licensure for NP's will be closely monitored for validation that the 10 CEU's annually have been obtained.  Remember:  If you precept NP students, you will earn 130 contact hours!!

The NCSBN is pushing for changes int he APRN compact language.  RISNA is against this and will continue to keep us informed on the issue.

Upcoming legislation:  NPARI will partner with RISNA to author and support legislation this next session to enhance the Global Signature Authority law to include the support of NP's prescribing medical marijuana.  NPARI strongly endorses the inclusion of Suboxone on this proposed bill .

Let us know if you have any concerns or if you can volunteer to precept a URI NP student.!
