Objectives:
  • Understand the basics of pain physiology & the basis of opioid-induced hyperalgesia.
  • Define & apply models of care that can assist with triaging pain management patients.
  • Understand multiple conservastive treaestment options for various pain conditions.
  • Address potential for prescription drug abuse or misuse in patients with acute or chronic pain.
  • Utilize palliative care strategies in managing patients with pain in a primary care setting.
  • Identify key components of the risk evaluation and mitigation strategies for extended release and long-acting opioid medications.
Educational Information:
  • This program is appropriate for Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioner students, Registered Nurses. Physicians and Physician Assistants.
  • This continuing education activity has been submitted for approval to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners who has reciprocal agreement with the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Full day CEU approval for 6.5 CNE's.
