Senate and House Legislation Introduced to Improve Access to Workers’ Compensation for Injured Federal Workers
On Monday, Jan. 30, Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Susan Collins (R-ME) and Reps. Tim Walberg (R-MI) and Joe Courtney (D-CT) introduced S.131/H.R. 618, the Improving Access to Workers’ Compensation for Injured Federal Workers Act, in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. This legislation would update the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act to authorize NPs and PAs to certify disabilities and oversee treatment for injured federal workers in accordance with state law. In 2022, this legislation passed the House in the 117th Congress with a strong, bipartisan vote of 325-83. Senate and House Legislation Introduced to Improve Medicare Patient Access to Needed Therapeutic Shoes
Last week, Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Susan Collins (R-ME) and Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Darin LaHood (R-IL) introduced S. 260/H.R. 704, the Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act. This legislation would authorize NPs and PAs to certify a Medicare beneficiary’s need for therapeutic shoes, which would improve timeliness and access to care while reducing costs.
